Class Saints
At Sacred Heart, we are extremely proud of our rich and diverse community. Following discussions with pupil leaders, we identified the need to reflect this more in our class saints. Pupil leaders researched saints from different backgrounds and, as a result, chose some new saints. Some of these saints represent countries such as South Korea, Sri Lanka and India as well as countries in South America, and Europe.
Each class celebrates the feast day of their class saint, learning about the saint, and the country or culture they are associated with. By doing so, pupils learn more about the history and people of the church and examples of faith. Below you will see our list of class saints as well as some examples of how we celebrate their feast days.

Saint Andrew Kim
It makes me feel happy because it isn’t always those who came from the same place that Jesus was born. It makes me feel joyful as I have been to where he is from!” (Allegra)
"St Andrew Kim is the first Korean saint and that makes me feel happy and proud! He is from the same part of Korea as my grandparents and it make me feel like that he is a part of my family and community!” Yunah)
"It is exciting because he has the same surname as me as we are both from Korea!” (Joanna)
St Joseph Vaz
“Our school motto is ‘Learning in Love’ and it is important to learn about different cultures and religions around the world.” (Nithyaa)
“It makes me proud to know that India is being represented.” (Rafi)
“I feel proud to see someone from my country being a saint and being learnt about by others.” (Dhanyaa)
St Elizabeth of Hungary
“I feel very happy because a country that my Mum and Dad are from is also where St Elizabeth is from. I hope that the children in that class will learn lots about Hungary because it is a great country!” (Ben)
